What is NDIS flexible support?
Flexible support sits inside your NDIS Core Supports budget — the most flexible part of your plan. It lets you choose how, when and where your funded supports are delivered, across four categories:
- Assistance with Daily Living — personal care, meal prep, medication prompts, household tasks
- Assistance with Social & Community Participation — getting to appointments, classes, sport, the shops or a friend’s place
- Consumables — everyday items like continence aids
- Transport — help to get where you need to go when public transport isn’t an option
Because Core funding is stated as flexible in most plans, you can move dollars between these categories week to week as life changes. Liberty Health Services helps you spend it in the way that creates the most independence.
How Liberty’s flexible support works
Every participant gets a personalised support plan we build with you in your first two weeks. Then we match you with support workers based on three things:
- The skills you need — complex care, mental health, behaviour support, post-hospital recovery
- The interests you share — pets, footy, gaming, music, faith, language
- The schedule that suits you — early mornings, evenings, weekends, sleepovers, 24/7
You always have a say in who walks through your door. If a worker isn’t the right fit, we replace them — no awkward conversations required.
What flexible support looks like day-to-day
A few examples from current Brisbane participants:
- Morning routine support — a worker arrives at 7am to help with showering, dressing and breakfast before TAFE
- Mid-week community access — Wednesday gym session, Friday grocery shop with the same worker
- Evening wind-down — medication prompts, dinner prep, and a 30-minute walk around Yeronga Park
- Weekend social support — a trip to the Gabba, a movie at Southbank, or coffee in West End
- Overnight and 24/7 care — sleepover or active overnight shifts for participants with complex needs
We can flex hours up or down within your plan, and roll changes out within 48 hours when life shifts.
Who we support
Liberty Health Services delivers NDIS flexible support to Brisbane participants living with:
- Physical disability, mobility limitations and acquired brain injury
- Intellectual disability and autism
- Psychosocial disability and complex mental health
- Chronic and complex health conditions requiring nursing oversight

How to start with Liberty Health Services
It takes three steps and roughly a week:
- Free planning chat — phone or in-home. We listen, ask questions and explain how your plan can work harder.
- Service agreement — we draft it in plain English, walk you through it, and only sign when you’re ready.
- First shift booked — usually within 5 business days of signing.
You don’t need a plan review to switch to Liberty. If you have unused Core Supports funding, we can start this week.
Why you should choose Liberty Health Services
- Founded by Registered Nurses — clinical safety and dignity are non-negotiable
- Same workers, every shift — consistency builds trust, especially for participants with autism or complex needs
- 24/7 on-call coordinator — a real person answers when something changes
- NDIS-registered — Provider ID with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, audited annually
Frequently asked questions
Q: What’s the difference between NDIS flexible support and Supported Independent Living (SIL)? A: Flexible support funds individual hours of help in your own home or community — you decide when and how. SIL funds round-the-clock support in a shared home with other participants. Many people start with flexible support and move to SIL later, or use both at different times.
Q: Can I use my NDIS Core Supports budget for flexible support with Liberty? A: Yes. Most participants fund Liberty’s flexible support from the Assistance with Daily Living and Assistance with Social & Community Participation line items in their Core Supports budget. We invoice the NDIA, your plan manager or you directly — your choice.
Q: Are you registered with the NDIS Commission? A: Yes. Liberty Health Services is a registered NDIS provider, audited against the NDIS Practice Standards. You can verify our registration on the NDIS Commission provider register.
Q: How fast can support start? A: Usually within 5 business days of your first call, often sooner for urgent post-hospital discharges.
Q: What if I’m not happy with my support worker? A: Tell us. We’ll replace them, no questions asked. You’re never locked in.
Q: Do you support participants who are self-managed or plan-managed? A: Both, plus NDIA-managed participants. Our admin team handles invoicing whichever way suits you.
Q: What hours do you cover? A: 24/7. Mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, sleepovers and active overnight shifts.
